Counties Manukau Hockey

DOH! See if you can spot the mistake in the video. Miss Chalmers must have been pretty tired!

We have lots of sporting opportunities at Reremoana School. On Thursday we had our first "have a go" hockey session run by Counties Manukau. Each class will get four sessions in total over the next few weeks.

Why do we want to create this opportunity for our kids?

  1. Hockey is fantastic exercise. It is one of the best cardiovascular games you can play.
  2. Hockey builds character. Since hockey is a team sport, children who play learn the value of working with others. They figure out how to rely on teammates and understand the cooperation is key to success.
  3. Hockey improves mental agility. Hockey is a fast sport. Plays develop in seconds, and momentum can shift in the blink of an eye. Children who can learn how to operate in that sort of environment will improve their ability to make quick decisions and think of their feet.
A notice about signing up to join a Counties Manukau Hockey team was sent home last week. You can also find a copy here.

Check out this video of Room 11 having some hockey fun!

  1. Wow Miss Chalmers a new look and feel to this years blog for you! I really enjoyed reading about 'Hockey'. Hockey is a relatively new sport for me as I predominately played Netball when I was growing up - I am however looking forward to learning about it with the staff and students. Go Rere!

  2. Wow Room 11 I loved watching your hockey video and I am glad you are having so much fun!
